Who makes the work permit application, the employer or the employee?
As a rule, the work permit application is made by the employer. For applications inside Turkey, the foreign national must hold a valid residence permit of at least six months; otherwise the application is made through a Turkish mission abroad.
What can I do if my residence permit application is refused?
A refusal can be challenged before the administrative court; in some cases, remedying the grounds for refusal and making a fresh application gives a faster result. Which route is appropriate depends on the grounds for refusal and requires legal assessment.
How long do I have to appeal a deportation decision?
The time limit for challenging a deportation decision is kept short in the law and runs from the date the decision is notified. For that reason the case must be assessed on the very day the decision reaches you.
What is the difference between sworn translation and notarised translation?
A sworn translation is one declared by an authorised translator with their stamp and signature. In a notarised translation, that translation is additionally certified by a notary. Which one is required depends on the institution requesting the document.
How are fees calculated?
After your case has been reviewed in the consultation, the document list, the steps and the total fee are shared in writing. Nothing is added later; official fees and notary costs are stated separately and clearly.
Can I use your services from other provinces in Turkey?
Yes. Our office is in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul; because most applications are handled electronically, we accept clients from every province in Turkey. Documents can be sent by courier.
How long does a work permit take to be decided?
If the documents are complete, the assessment is usually finished within thirty days. If a request for missing documents is issued, the period starts running again from the date the shortcoming is remedied.
When should I apply to extend my residence permit?
An extension application must be made within the sixty days before the permit expires, and in any event before the term runs out. No extension is possible once the term has expired; a breach then arises.
What happens if I do not pay the visa breach fine?
An unpaid administrative fine can create an obstacle at later entries and applications. Before you leave the country, the fine and any possible entry ban should be assessed together.
When can I apply for Turkish citizenship through marriage?
The marriage to a Turkish citizen must have lasted at least three years and must still be subsisting in fact. After the application, an examination is carried out in terms of family unity.
What should I do if my document from abroad has no apostille?
The apostille is obtained in the country where the document was issued. For documents brought to Turkey without one, the procedure often has to be started again from scratch; for that reason, consulting us before obtaining the document saves time.
How long does the sworn translation of my document take?
Standard documents such as passports, identity cards, diplomas and civil registry records can usually be delivered the same day. For long and technical texts, the timescale is confirmed once we have seen the document.
Is an interpreter compulsory for title deed and marriage procedures?
If one of the parties does not speak Turkish, a sworn interpreter must be present both at the title deed transfer and at the marriage ceremony. We provide this service on the day of the appointment.
If I set up a company, do I automatically get a residence permit?
No. Company formation on its own does not give rise to a residence permit. If you are going to be in Turkey as a company shareholder or director, a work permit or a suitable residence permit must also be obtained.
I am in another city — can I still use your services?
Yes. Most applications are handled electronically; documents can be delivered by courier. For the steps that must be done in person, we plan ahead.
Are consultancy and legal practice the same thing?
No. Consultancy means process management, document preparation and application follow-up. At stages that require litigation and legal representation we work with a lawyer's support, and we make this distinction clear to you.
